Free Responses:

When our tutors were asked the following questions, this is how they responded:

    Hobbies:
My interests include jazz music and I play sax and flute. I'm fluent in Spanish and I'm interested in weather forecasting.

Why do you want to be a tutor?
I enjoy the look on a student's face when we achieve the goal of learning something that beforehand seemed impossible to learn.

Why should a student pick you?
I think learning should be fun and I try to make it that way as much as I can. I have the ability to simplify things and make them understandable.

    Personal Statement:
I'm originally from New York and have spent about 20 years in Latin America doing independent missionary work. I speak fluent Spanish, play a lot of music, and have been a home-school teacher for 15 years.

    Any Last Words?
The student who has to cram through a school or a college course, who has made himself merely a receptacle for the teacher's thoughts and ideas, is not educated; he has not gained much. He is a reservoir, not a fountain. One retains, the other gives forth. Unless his knowledge is converted into wisdom, into faculty, it will become stagnant like water. --J.E. Dinger
