Why do you want to be a tutor?
- I want to be a tutor because I am always looking for more opportunities to help others while building my teaching career. Being a part of the UTeach program at UT, I have been tutoring and working in classrooms for 3 years now. Tutoring students one-on-one or in small groups, I believe, has tremendous benefits. I would like to be there for students who are struggling in certain academic areas. I have two passions in life: math and helping others. Becoming a tutor in the Austin area will allow me to expand and share my passion with students outside of the schools I work with!
Why should a student pick you?
- A student should pick me because they will easily and quickly see that I am a great person all around. I'm very professional when it comes to my job, education, and the success of students. My goal is to make math fun. Sound impossible?? Well, contrary to popular belief... it doesn't have to feel that way. Most people say they do not like math because they feel they are bad at it or struggle and can't do it. I believe that everyone has their own way of learning and sometimes they just need a little help trying to figure out a way that works for them.
Personal Statement:
- I am student at the University of Texas pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. Also, I have been a member of the UTeach program for 3 years. Within the program, I have created multiple lesson plans for the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I have completed field work at Pleasant Hill Elementary, Covington Middle, and Crockett High school. My field work has included the creation of enriched lesson plans, as well as tutoring individuals. I have executed these lesson plans/activities in front of individual students, small groups of students, as well as classrooms as a whole.
For the past 2 years, I have interned at Kealing Middle School. Some of the duties I have performed at this internship include, but not have been limited to, creating and implementing lessons and/or enriching activities, tutoring students or groups of students to ensure understanding of what they are learning in the classroom.
Any Last Words?
- Why couldn't the plant fit in the circle plot?
Because it had square roots!
Haha you know you smiled!
