Why do you want to be a tutor?
- I am pursuing a career in teaching and last school year taught me a lot about myself as I taught as a substitute teacher in many schools around A.I.S.D. I think tutoring one and one helps one refine their lesson planning skills because you tend to understand on a personal level how well different students are able to understand concepts especially in Mathematics. Also I can relate in many ways to the frustration many students go through in the classroom with not catching on to things and falling behind in class. I had tutors as a kid and some where patient and helpful but some added to the frustration by being impatient with me. I believe a tutor should be someone who is also able to apply the rules of customer service to their job, someone able to listen, empathize and then do all they can to help the student learn the material.
Why should a student pick you?
- As stated above I have a desire to teach and I got my degree in Mathematics. During my school years I had moments of self-doubt and frustration in understanding Math so I believe I can apply the lessons I have learned to helping students who may be in a similar situation.
Personal Statement:
- It is not enough for people to believe in you first you must believe in yourself.
Any Last Words?
- Those who are the happiest are not necessarily those whom life has been easiest. Emotional stability results from an attitude. It is refusing to yield to depression and fear, even when black clouds float overhead. It is improving that which can be improved and accepting that which is inevitable.
